Darrell G. Rhoades, 57, of Decatur, passed away December 28, 2010 from complications of a heart transplant which was received on Christmas Eve in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

 

A memorial service to celebrate Darrell’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. till service time at the funeral home.  The family suggests casual attire for the services.  Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the donors’ choice.  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.

 

Darrell was born June 25, 1953 in Decatur, IL the son of Junior and Alma (Hakala) Rhoades.  He married Beverly Minks on July 25, 1987.  He was a journeyman electrician for the I.B.E.W. Local #146.  Darrell’s greatest love was for his family and they will always remember him as a loving husband, dad, son, and brother. 

 

Surviving is his wife: Beverly of Decatur; parents: Junior and Alma Rhoades of Decatur; daughters: Jennifer R. Rhoades and her husband Brandon J. Corey of Palo Alto, CA and Christie L. Rhoades of Collinsville, IL; grandson: Mason Corey of Palo Alto, CA; brothers: Dale Rhoades and his wife Betty of Decatur and Dean Rhoades and his wife Marvetta of Decatur; sister: Gloria Thompson and her husband Myron of Decatur; father and mother-in-law: Glen and Ruby Minks of Springfield, IL; brothers and sisters-in-law: Glenda and Tony Oliver of North Ft. Myers, FL, Pam and Rick Gochanour of Mesa, AZ and Todd Minks of Camden, TN.
